Brockenchack Wines Shine in NZ

There was yet more smiles on our faces at camp Brockenchack when the results were recently announced for the 2019 New Zealand International Wine Show (NZIWS), with a gold and two silvers being awarded to our wines at this year’s comp. Gold Medal | 2017 Zip Line Shiraz (the second gold received for this wine, with the other being awarded at the 2019 Melbourne International Wine Comp) Silver Medal | 2017 Miss Bronte Cabernet Sauvignon (the second silver received for this wine, with the other being awarded at the 2019 New York World Wine & Spirits Comp) Silver Medal | 2017 Hare Hunter Pinot Noir (the third silver received for this wine, with the others being awarded at the 2018 NY World Wine & Spirits…

Jack Harrison Continues to Impress

Family is at the core of everything we do here at Brockenchack, and we love that we’ve been able to incorporate our beautiful grandchildren into the business and into our brand identity. Our flagship wines are testament to that. Named after one of our two grandsons, Jack Harrison Shiraz has been crafted in honour of the amazing young man Jack has become. Sharing our passion for all things wine, Jack is currently in training to become Brockenchack’s next winemaker and viticulturist. We spent many days chasing Jack around the vineyard as a kid and we couldn’t be more thrilled that he is pursuing something he loves and planning to continue our Brockenchack vision! Remarkably, the Barossa actually produces some of the oldest Shiraz vines in the…

‘Far From Ordinary’ in the USA

‘Far From Ordinary’ is the largest Australian wine promotion ever held in the USA and Brockenchack Wines is proud to be a part of it! We began exporting our wines into the US through DellaVino Imports in 2018. Prior to that we had been selling directly to private customers in the US, but are excited to now have ongoing representation of our single vineyard Eden Valley wines in the US. We look forward to seeing how Brockenchack Wines can grow within the States over the coming years. Contributing to that will be our presence at the upcoming ‘Far From Ordinary’ Aussie Wine Month roadshow – a tasting like never before. The Far from Ordinary campaign brings the experience of Australia to life through sight, sound, smell and…

New York World Wine and Spirits Comp Win!

Dual silvers in New York for Brockenchack’s Miss Bronte and Jack Harrison reds… The New York World Wine & Spirits Competition (NYWWSC) has established itself as one of the most respected judging events in the eastern U.S.A. The judges are predominantly from the New York area and are among the wine and spirits industry’s most trusted authorities, not only on the subject of wine and spirits, but also on the regional tastes and trends that drive the wine and spirits markets. NYWSC medal winners range from some of the most renowned international distillers and wineries, to small-batch craft producers and boutique wineries for whom these awards have proven to be a game-changer. Not only is a NYWSC medal a testament to a producers hard work, it’s a universally…

How to Taste Wine Like a Boss

With the Barossa Valley Gourmet Weekend just gone, our region saw a lot of wine tasting over this past weekend, which reminded me of a story I heard the first time our winemaker Jo Irvine spoke at our annual members’ event. Jo talked about what it was like growing up in her dad Jim Irvine’s winery, learning to taste wine from a very young age and how she started simply with the yuk / yum method. Love it! So, whether you enjoy wine simply because it ‘tastes like grapes’ as one of our long-time wine members so eloquently puts it, or you’re on a journey of discovery, keen to learn all you can about this delicious nectar of the gods, read our top tips on…

Brockenchack Wines Take Home 3 Golds!

For the past six years, wineries from across Australia have submitted their signature wines to the Melbourne International Wine Competition (MIWC) to go before the only international judging panel made up of real trade buyers. With thousands of contenders fighting for recognition, at the June 2019 MIWC, we are proud to announce that we walked away with three gold medals and won the Eden Valley Grenache Winery of the Year. We’ve worked hard over the last 12 years to refine our collection and are proud of the awards and recognition that we’ve received for many of our wines in the past. This year we have been able to add to that list with a gold for our 2017 Megan Jane Grenache, 2017 Zip Line Shiraz…

VIETNAM AND SINGAPORE AWAIT

We were recently invited to participate in a bank hosted food & beverage export opportunities trade delegation to Vietnam and Singapore. We sent Darren Naylor along to get a feel for what the wine industries were like in these export markets. Before departing Aussie shores however, Darren kicked this trip off with a visit to Darwin, a relatively new domestic market for us. Accompanied by one of our premium Brother member Nick Struik, together they set off to visit an old friend who owns The Cavenagh Hotel (the former Darwin casino), which is now one of the best wine and steak restaurants in Darwin’s central district.  A great venue at which to host our first NT wine lunch. This lunch was all about crisp Mackenzie William…

2017 MISS BRONTE CABERNET RELEASE

You’ve been enjoying our 17 Pinot Noir and 17 Grenache for some time and I am thrilled to be able to share our new 17 Cabernet release with you now. With the cooler weather now upon us, Marilyn and I (and Jack now that he’s 18) have been opening more reds of late, including this beautiful new release. We were very happy with the 2017 vintage here in Eden Valley. Good soil moisture and cooler temperatures in the lead up to the 2017 harvest resulted in extremely healthy vines at vintage time. A later than usual harvest date meant the grapes ripened more slowly, enabling consistent fruit development and a gradual accumulation of sugars and flavours, which is exactly what winemakers are looking for to produce high quality…

2017 ZIP LINE SHIRAZ RELEASE

It is with great pleasure that I bring you our new cellar door release of the 2017 Zip Line Shiraz. A later than usual harvest date meant the grapes ripened more slowly, enabling consistent fruit development and a gradual accumulation of sugars and flavours, which is exactly what winemakers are looking for to produce high quality wines. Eden Valley’s 17 vintage has produced some quite outstanding…
