There was yet more smiles on our faces at camp Brockenchack when the results were recently announced for the 2019 New Zealand International Wine Show (NZIWS), with a gold and two silvers being awarded to our wines at this year’s comp.
Gold Medal | 2017 Zip Line Shiraz (the second gold received for this wine, with the other being awarded at the 2019 Melbourne International Wine Comp)
Silver Medal | 2017 Miss Bronte Cabernet Sauvignon (the second silver received for this wine, with the other being awarded at the 2019 New York World Wine & Spirits Comp)
Silver Medal | 2017 Hare Hunter Pinot Noir (the third silver received for this wine, with the others being awarded at the 2018 NY World Wine & Spirits Comp an the 2018 San Francisco International Wine Show. This wine has also won a gold at the 2019 Melbourne International Wine Comp)
We’re really happy with these results, especially to now have won two gold medals for our 2017 Zip Line. But what is especially notable to us is that our little Eden Valley Pinto Noir went head to head against the best of what New Zealand can offer by way of world class Pinot Noir, and scored really well. To win a silver up against the best Pinots in New Zealand is a result we’re really delighted with.
Since its inception in 2005, the NZIWS has been the largest wine judging competition in NZ. Chief Judge, Bob Campbell MW is ranked as the most experienced senior wine judge in New Zealand and the country’s leading wine educator. The other senior judges for the 2019 wine show involved a number of leading winemakers, several Masters of Wine and many key industry personnel. Most of the senior judges have each been involved in major wine competitions for more than a decade.
We’ve had a Brockenchack base established in Queenstown, in New Zealand’s South Island for the past five years. We sell our wines directly to some top restaurants and wine bars in Queenstown and Christchurch, with NZ website sales delivering these beautiful wines to homes across the country. Our NZ website www.brockenchack.nz works on geo-location so is only accessible from within NZ. While not all of these winning vintages are currently available in NZ, the 2017 Hare Hunter is, and our 2016 vintages of Zip Line and Miss Bronte are currently available. Excitingly, our 2017 Zip Line Shiraz and 2018 Tru-Su Rose are soon to make an appearance in many more homes across the country, to be included in the popular WineFriend wine subscription packs.
We’ve been entering the NZIWS since we started exporting our wines across the ditch.
